Always True, Always Loving
“Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?” (Matthew 19:4-5)
Jesus always spoke truthfully and in love. As God the Son, He never sinned. He once challenged His enemies, “Which of you convinceth me of sin?” (John 8:46) None of them could. John 21:25 also says, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”
For all Jesus did and said, only one sinful act or word had to be found to prove Him a fraud. His death on the cross would mean nothing, His resurrection would not have happened, and the Christian faith would be a worthless fairy tale. Yet no one found sin. There was none to be found. The fact that He rose after His death, and “…was seen of Cephas [Peter], then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once;” (1 Corinthians 15:5-6) proves He told the truth the whole time.
That said, let us consider the first part of our opening passage: “Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,” By this statement, Jesus validated Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” He also validated Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Not only did Jesus validate the creation account, but He also validated the flood account elsewhere in Scripture: “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-27)
These Genesis accounts directly contradict evolution theory, which says man evolved spontaneously over millions of years from lower life forms. They both can’t be right. If the Genesis accounts are wrong, then Jesus lied, and Christianity falls like a house of cards. Yet again, His resurrection proves otherwise.
Neither creation nor evolution can be proven by science, because neither can be duplicated. Yet while the Bible is not a science book per se, it mentions science. For instance, in Luke 1:36, the angel Gabriel told Mary her cousin Elisabeth “…hath also conceived a son in her old age:” (boldface added) Medical science discovered that a baby’s sex is determined at conception, which is what Luke said in this passage. Luke was also a physician. “Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.” (Colossians 4:14)
When the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar took the people of Judah captive, he wanted the best and smartest young Jews to serve him, who were “…skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science,” (Daniel 1:4, boldface added) The Bible heartily endorses science and learning: “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning;” (Proverbs 1:5) Yet any theory based on the idea that there is no God is foolishness. “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)
Jesus spoke words of truth and love. Most importantly, He loved us, died for our sins on the cross, and rose again: “…the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) If you would like to see how to have your sins forgiven and eternal life by receiving Jesus as your personal Saviour, please go to www.clevelandbaptist.org, click “Helpful Links,” then “How Do I Go to Heaven?”
